We want to keep Dominican Black Canyon residents informed about key fire safety developments following the devastating 2025 LA wildfires. State agencies are moving quickly to strengthen community protections, with a major focus on reducing ember-related home ignitions—the top cause of wildfire damage.
Research shows that the first five feet around your home are the most vulnerable. Governor Newsom’s recent Executive Order (N-18-25) directs the State Board of Forestry and Fire Protection to adopt new “Zone 0” regulations requiring an ember-resistant zone within this area for homes in high fire-risk zones. These rules are expected by mid-June and will be finalized by the end of 2025.
